The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce is a not-for profit membership organisation established in 1975 under the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for the Arab Countries.

The Chamber has a proud record of service in the promotion of Arab-British trade and bilateral cooperation. Union Of Arab Chambers
The decision to establish the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry & Agriculture of the Arab Countries was taken during the first conference held at Alexandria Chamber on May 8, 1951; whereas the Statute of the Union was delivered during the second conference held in Beirut on December 16, 1951 when the announcement of the foundation of the Union took place and which since then has been taking Beirut as the residence of its General Secretariat.

The Union is an independent non-governmental, non-profit regional legal entity, where its name was modified to be “Union of Arab Chambers” (UAC) at the 120th Session of the Union’s Council happened in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman on March 26, 2016.
The awareness of the Arab Businessmen for the importance of the regional cooperation as a tool to advance the Arab Economic Development was the main motive behind the foundation of this Union so, the Union was the first Arab Economic Institution to work at the non-governmental level in order to promote the idea of economic cooperation and integration among the Arab Countries.

In the U.K. there are only a handful of organisations who have the privilege to engage government at the highest levels, representing the voice of business. We are proud to be a part of that select group with our voice championed by the British chambers of commerce, with 52 accredited chambers here in the U.K. and close to 80 British chambers around the world

WiMENA is primarily a business-to-business network, promoting issues on a sector-by-sector basis, by putting women centre stage and promoting their voice as part of the mainstream economy.

WiMENA is born out of our prestigious ground-breaking initiative Women in Business, and is a network reflecting the aspirations of women today. We use our platform to challenge gender inequalities; discuss the problems, develop concepts, policies and solutions and inspire change through collaboration and influence.
The language may have altered but the issues remain the same. While Women in Business fulfilled many of its policy objectives as accepted policy norms by UK and international governments; WiMENA builds on these foundations as it promotes and encourages business-to-business networking and the exchange of knowledge and skills between women from the UK and the Middle East and the wider international business community.
WiMENA is driven by a commitment not only to encourage women to access commercial opportunities for themselves or for the businesses they represent, but also to ensure that they are not marginalised across all sectors of business and society.
WiMENA works strategically with public organisations, the private sector and international governments.
