Today more than ever before we need safe, clean, sustainable, and renewable energy for a better, shared, green future. Low carbon, innovative fuel replacements that not only decouple transport and industry from fossil fuels but drive regeneration. Solutions that work in harmony with the surrounding ecosystems and understand the socio-economic challenges of the regions they are produced in.

At HutanBio, we design and develop sustainable biofarm technology to produce a low carbon, sulphur free biofuel using out patented HBx microalgae. Our unique advantage is that we do not compete with agriculture, drive deforestation, or use ANY fresh water.

The world needs advanced biofuel alternatives that are disruptive but… without driving disruption.

Energy Innovation Agency

Having led the industrial revolution, Greater Manchester is now at the forefront of the green revolution. The city declared a climate emergency in 2019 and is committed to becoming carbon-neutral by 2038. As part of this ambitious effort, the Energy Innovation Agency (EIA) unites partners from local government, business, industry, academia, and citizen representatives to tackle this challenge.

Improved Energy

"Improved Energy has pioneered a patented solar technology based on Concentrating Solar Power (CSP). Each of its 480MW plants is capable of generating 20 MW per hour, continuously throughout the day. With a lifespan of 40 years, each plant will produce over 7 gigawatts of energy and generate more than US$15 million in annual revenue. The operational payback period is just 3 years, with total expected lifetime revenue surpassing US$600 million. Our goal is to optimise the engineering process to enable the construction of a new plant every 9 months, aiming for a Levelised Cost of Electricity (LCOE) below $0.01 per kWh. Our High-Temperature Electrolyser (HTE) is designed to achieve an energy efficiency of 40 kWh per kilogram of hydrogen, with the potential for further optimisation to reach 35 kWh. More importantly, our design avoids the use of rare and costly metals like platinum and iridium. We anticipate not only reducing the energy consumption of critical processes but also expanding the commercial viability of our plants. This marks a significant step toward revolutionising renewable energy production and meeting global energy demands with sustainable, cost-effective green hydrogen."

Zestas

zestas.org/

Our purpose is to promote rapid and large-scale uptake of Zero Emissions Ship Technology (ZEST). Zero Emissions means zero GHG emissions at point of use on the vessel with minimal upstream impacts. By combining zero emission technologies, we achieve zero emissions at a shipboard level faster. With today’s technologies we can achieve fully zero emissions now, particularly on smaller return to base vessels, and drastically reduce emissions on larger ocean going vessels with more complicated operational profiles.

PRG Scotland

PRG Scotland Ltd a start up company based in the UK have developed and patented a process called Continuous Reductive Distillation (CRD) which converts waste tyres into commodities for the circular economy in an environmentally sustainable way. Winners of the 2023/4 Low Carbon Accelerator award, a National Highways funded scheme to Catapult start up projects with Carbon saving innovations to create road construction material. The funding has seen PRG Scotland work with Universities and leading Road construction companies to develop Bitumen from Waste tyres. The bitumen from waste tyres has been tested in Asphalt and is showing great promise in performance and its ability to reduce the road constructions reliance up on fossil fuel derived material. The breakthrough will aid the UK National Highways to achieve its long-term objective of Net Zero for Construction Materials while creating a sustainable route for waste tyres once further development is completed.

CoolRun

www.coolrun.co.uk/

Hubl Logistics, a leader in sustainable temperature-controlled transportation, is on a mission to revolutionize food distribution with zero-emission technologies. The company's flagship product, the CoolRun Pod, is a game-changer in zero-emission, temperature-controlled transport, effectively addressing the inefficiencies in the current last-mile delivery network.

Designed for transporting perishable foods in any van or truck, CoolRun Pods uses passive cooling technology to maintain cool temperatures for over 30 hours and frozen for 12 hours. The CoolRun pods feature a thermal battery and novel airflow systems, maintaining optimum temperatures and enabling the movement of temperature-sensitive goods across the country, which is emissions-free. Utilising CoolRun technologies helps fleet managers reduce fuel costs, tyre wear, and emissions by eliminating the need for heavy, inefficient, and polluting in-truck chiller units. CoolRun Pods provide a greener, more efficient alternative that operates intermodally across Trains, HGVs, vans and cargo bikes.
