His Excellency Mr. Nayef Hmeidi Al Fayez has been appointed as Minister of Tourism & Antiquities since 12 October 2020.
H.E Nayef Hmeidi Al Fayez has served as Minister of Tourism and Antiques, and Minster of Environment of Jordan several times.
After obtaining a bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and international relations from Brigham Young University in the United States. Al Fayez started his career as assistant chief of Royal Protocol at the Royal Hashemite Court, and worked closely to His late Majesty King Hussein bin Talal and His Majesty King Abdullah II and His Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. In 2006 he moved to work in advanced positions in the Jordanian government, especially in the field of tourism development, and headed several leading institutions and companies specialized in the field of tourism, environment, and development such as the Jordan Tourism Board, the National Company for Tourism Development, the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts - Les Roches, the Jordan Heritage Revival Company, the Jordan Oil Terminals Company "Jotic", the National Microfinance Bank, and the Jordanian Microfinance National Network “Tanmia”.
He also participated in the membership of several bodies and committees such as the Baptism Site board of trustees and the higher steering committee of Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND). He has participated and presented Jordan in many of conferences and international events as an expert on Tourism, Environment, and sustainable development.
Al Fayez holds several Orders of Merit and Medals on local and international levels.
His Excellency is a high-ranking diplomat who has served his country at home and abroad in numerous senior capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan. He was recently appointed to the post of the Kingdom’s Ambassador in London.
In his distinguished career, he has been private advisor to H M the King of Jordan, Director of the Office of H M the King and previously Director of the Office of H R H the Crown Prince. He was First Secretary at the Embassy of Jordan in the USA from 1999-2004. He was a member of the Jordanian Delegation to the UN General Assembly sessions in the years 1994, 1995, 1997 and 2004. His Excellency served as Private Secretary to the Jordanian Prime Minister in 1996-97.
Dr. Abed Al Razzaq Arabiyat is the current Managing Director of the Jordan Tourism Board; the leader in positioning and promoting Jordan as the destination of choice in international markets.
Prior to his position at the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Arabiyat filled the position of Finance Department Director at the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission as well as previously holding that position and the position of Director of Administrative Affairs at the Commission simultaneously.
Preceding that, Dr. Arabiyat worked in several ministerial positions including; Serving in the Financial Department at the Ministry of Planning before moving on to becoming the Head of Auditing as well as Financial Manager at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities before moving on to becoming the Financial & Administrative Manager for the Tourism Development Project ( JICA).
Dr. Arabiyat holds a PHD in Finance from the Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies, a Masters degree in Banking and Financial Science from the Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Science and a BA in Public Administration and Political Science from the University of Jordan.

The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean is a senior Labour member of the House of Lords and a business leader. Formerly Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, Baroness Symons was a Minister in the UK Government from 1997 until stepping down in 2005. Among her government posts she was Minister for the Middle East, Minister for International Trade and Minister for Defence Procurement, and the Prime Minister’s envoy to the Gulf.
Previously a trade union general secretary, she was an Equal Opportunities Commissioner and a governor of the London Business School. As well as working closely with DLA Piper, Baroness Symons is now involved with a number of other commercial organisations, including roles as a non-executive director of British Airways, and as an advisor to other companies, including those with strong Middle East links, and with a number of not-for-profit organisations, including the International Red Cross.
Mr El-Idrissi is proud to have served the best part of over 37 years with the Arab British Chamber of Commerce, serving both as Director of Trade Services, Acting General Manager and now his present position as Deputy Secretary General & CEO. During this time, he has cultivated strong relationships with British Chambers, Government bodies, educational institutions, NGOs across both the Arab world and the UK regions, as well as the UK-Arab business communities as a whole.
To this end, Mr El-Idrissi is in much demand across the regions as a keynote speaker and as one of the UK’s leading experts on UK-Arab trade relations.
He is also a key member of the Institute of Export where in the past he has held the position of Vice Chair of the Institute of Export, London Branch for a period of 7 years.
